TR 0119 Wall collapses
According to the researches, it was determined that about 33% of retaining wall collapses were caused by inadequate drainage behind the wall. Among the other reasons are the lack of the retaining foundation at the rate of 25%, the failure of the retaining curtain at the rate of 19% and the faulty production at the rate of 10%. Considering that the companies have made the construction of the retaining wall based on estimates and experiences without conducting appropriate ground studies and projecting studies, when we consider the above rates, it is seen that the collapses experienced are caused by negligence and construction errors at almost 87%. The absence of a barbecue structure, which is one of the most basic elements in some retaining walls, shows this very clearly.
